02024 KICK-OFF PARTY & 2023 HONOR AWARDS CEREMONY

AIACC’s 4th annual New Year’s Kickoff Party was held on January 23, 2024.  The 2023 Honor Award recipients were announced.  Over 80 attendees enjoyed drinks and appetizers catered by Marco & Co. followed by the evenings presentation.  We were honored to have Robert Furgason as a guest speaker.  Robert received the TxA Cornerstone Award at the 2023 TxA Conference in Fort Worth.  This year we were excited to host the event at the new Del Mar College Oso Creek Campus.  It was a great opportunity for everyone to see the new Culinary Arts Building. The Culinary Arts Building covers 59,561 sq. ft. and houses ultramodern teaching spaces including kitchen labs, a coffee shop, a public-accessible restaurant/dining facility to provide students with hands-on, real-world learning experience, and the Tres Grace Family Foundation Community Rooms.

Found in the reception area is the “Circle In The Sun” mural that once graced the lobby of the Corpus Christi International Airport.  The original artists, Dot Turner and Joan Allen painted this nearly 38 years ago.  All visitors to this facility can enjoy seeing this wonderful artistic depiction of the South Texas culture which the restoration team had digitally reproduced and printed in order to have it displayed as it is today.
