AIA Continuing Education Information
All registered Architect Members (except those with Emeritus status) must complete 18 Continuing Education Hours (CEHs) and at least 12 in topics related to health, safety and welfare.
Also, to maintain your license in Texas, all registered architects (incl. practicing Emeritus members) must complete 12 Continuing Education Hours per renewal period in topics related to health, safety and welfare of the public.
- At least one of the 12 hours must be related to sustainable or energy-efficient design.
- At least one of the 12 hours must be related to barrier-free design.
- At least eight of the 12 hours must be structured activities (classroom/classroom equivalent).
- A maximum of four (4) hours may be self-directed.
