AIACC’s 4th annual New Year’s Kickoff Party was held on January 23, 2024. The 2023 Honor Award recipients were announced. Over 80 attendees enjoyed drinks and appetizers catered by Marco & Co. followed by the evenings presentation. We were honored to have Robert Furgason as a guest speaker. Robert received the TxA Cornerstone Award at the 2023 TxA Conference in Fort Worth. This year we were excited to host the event at the new Del Mar College Oso Creek Campus. It was a great opportunity for everyone to see the new Culinary Arts Building. The Culinary Arts Building covers 59,561 sq. ft. and houses ultramodern teaching spaces including kitchen labs, a coffee shop, a public-accessible restaurant/dining facility to provide students with hands-on, real-world learning experience, and the Tres Grace Family Foundation Community Rooms.
Alex Garza, the 2024 AIACC chapter president opened the event with the help of Jay Porterfield, the event committee chairman. The 2024 Board of Directors was introduced and a farewell toast was given to outgoing president, Andrea Riojas. Dr. Robert Furgason gave a short presentation on local architecture followed by the 2023 Honor Awards Ceremony.
