AIACC’s 6th annual New Year’s Kickoff Party was held on February 24, 2026. The 2025 Honor Award recipients were announced. Over 75 attendees enjoyed drinks and appetizers at KSpace Contemporary in downtown Corpus Christi followed by the evening’s presentation.
Madeline Dykema, AIA, the 2026 AIACC chapter president opened the event. The 2026 Board of Directors was introduced and a farewell toast was given to outgoing president, Rob Garcia, AIA. Connie Rivera, FAIA recognized the 13 AIACC Emeritus members and introduced the 7 who were present.
Madeline then began the 2025 Honor Awards Ceremony.

The American Institute of Architects elevates 67 local architects to the College of Fellows
Less than three percent of the architecture profession achieve AIA Fellowship.
Corpus Christi, Texas – 02/09/2026 – The American Institute of Architects (AIA) is elevating Connie G. Rivera, FAIA, from AIA Corpus Christi to its prestigious College of Fellows, AIA’s highest membership honor, for their exceptional work and contributions to architecture and society.
The fellowship program was developed to elevate those architects who have achieved a standard of excellence in the profession and made a significant contribution to architecture and society on a national level. Architects who have been elevated to fellowship can be identified by the designation FAIA after their name.

AIA Corpus Christ congratulates Connie on this prestigious honor which is awarded to architects who have made significant contributions to the profession and society, demonstrating excellence and leadership on a national level. She has been a dynamic member of the AIA Corpus Christi chapter for many years where she has served on the Board of Directors in numerous positions including Chapter President in 2014. She is currently holding the position of Director at Large. She also served with the Texas Society of Architects (TxA) beginning in 2015 as Chapter Director, and continued as VP of Professional Development, VP of Advocacy and finally as President in 2020.
Connie has been practicing architecture in Corpus Christi for over 20 years. She obtained a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1994. She is currently working with Pfluger Architects as Managing Principal.
The AIA Corpus Christi Board of Directors along with the AIA Board of Directors, Strategic Council, College of Fellows, and the Jury of Fellows, offers congratulations on this well-deserved recognition.
